President
Jim Jarvis |
I caught the photography bug in 1934, and from 1935 started to use glass plates, along with some 120 roll film. From 1950 onwards my colour work changed to 35mm. My principal subjects were trains and recording the interesting places I visited in the course of my travels. Over the years, a number of my train images have appeared in various books and magazines.
I joined HPS about the end of 1954 when I returned to live in Harpenden. At that time the Society held prestigeous annual International Exhibitions in the main Public Hall, but before too long these became unviable. By 1964 the Society was in severe decline and the main motion at that year's AGM was to wind it up. Virtually only Arthur Creighton and myself resisted this, and we became Chairman and Secretary respectively for several years, during which time matters improved steadily. |

I started photography about 25 years ago, and enjoy taking most subjects, except Landscapes, and working in panels of up to 10 pictures. |

I began taking photography seriously five years ago and am always keen to experiment with different styles and subjects, in particular water and movement. I also enjoy macro photography. I joined HPS in 2005, and obtained my LRPS (Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society) in 2007. |

Treasurer
Marion Gratwick |
I was introduced to photography by my father when I was eight years old. I started taking colour slides in 1959 and switched to digital in 2007. I mainly photograph landscapes, buildings, animals and plants seen during worldwide travels. I joined HPS in 1997. |

Programme Secretary
Trish French |
I have enjoyed taking pictures for more years than I care to remember, but seriously since 1985. Landscape is my first love, but I have a varied portfolio. |

Internal Competitions (Prints) Secretary
Peter Stevens |
I have been a keen amateur photographer for many years. Although my interest lies primarily in landscape photography, I am prepared to take anything that can produce an interesting or unusual photograph. I am an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS), and in 2009 gained a Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (DPAGB). Over recent years I have been trying my hand in national and international open exhibitions - with mixed results! I joined HPS in 2006 and became internal print competition secretary in 2008. I now use digital equipment exclusively to take, process and print my photographs. |

Internal Competitions (Projected Images) Secretary
Paul Johnson |
My interest in taking pictures began when I was given a 35mm camera for my 21st birthday and I remember being amazed by the quality of the images it produced. Since joining HPS in 2008 I have developed an interest in a broad range of photographic subjects and particularly enjoy the continuous learning experience. |

I became a professional photographer in 1984 and worked for the local and national press for over 25 years. Though I have had more than my 20 minutes of fame, I'm still looking for the big one! |

Publicity Officer
Frank Ledger |
I have been interested in photography all my adult life. I have contrived to have a darkroom in all the various houses we have lived in. I particularly enjoyed the black and white phase in my photographic life. I have been a member of HPS for ten years and have been fully digital for about four years, having before that used slide film, scanning and digital processing and printing. |

Outings Co-ordinator
Stephen Pritchard |
After many years taking photographs, some of which have been published in magazines and books, I decided it was time to start making images so in 2007 I joined HPS to broaden my experience and knowledge. I mainly concentrate on wildlife, water/landscapes and street photography. I am a member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). |

I have been interested in photography ever since my early teens when I witnessed in my father's makeshift darkroom the magical moment of seeing a black and white print appear in the developer tray. Although my processing workflow is now a digital one, I still get the same sense of excitement when making, what I believe to be, a good quality photograph. I joined HPS in 2004. |
