MEMBERS’ EVENING

Tuesday 19th November 2008

CRITIQUE WITH JOHN WELLS FRPS

John Wells FRPS

John’s usual humorous banter got the evening off to a good start.  He invited club members to air their own opinions as pictures were displayed and there was good interaction by members and helpful, informative advice from John.

One very pleasing thing about the meeting was the number of new members entering photographs for criticism.

Vice chairman, Ted French, thanked everyone who submitted pictures and thanked John for a highly entertaining evening.  Ted said he thought we would all benefit from John’s useful tips.

AN EVENING DEVOID OF GLAMOUR

With

John Bulpitt FRPS

John’s lecture this evening may have been called, An Evening Devoid of Glamour, but the photographs he showed were full of beauty!   Breathtaking shots of sportsmen and women, birds in flight, insects and small creatures, were admired by all the members.

After gaining his FRPS, John told us, he moved from film to digital.

John gave us a number of useful pieces of advice.  He said: “If you want to be consistently successful, you must know your subject. Know your camera or a once-in-a-lifetime picture could be lost by wasting time trying to re-set it.”

His final piece of advice?  For good shots – think ahead.  Plan where you will stand, exactly what image you want to achieve.

Ted French, thanked John for a superb evening.
